New x-ray system to inspect large food items now available

September 6th 2010

LOMA X4 800XLA new model of x-ray inspection equipment will provide the food industry in Australasia with the technology to detect contaminants in large and bulky food products for the first time. The Loma X4 800XL x-ray inspection system incorporates a large aperture feed system that can handle large products, such as bulk meat, large stacks of food ingredients or large blocks of unprocessed cheese.

Inspection Systems has brought the new technology developed in the UK to Australia and New Zealand to improve the efficiency and reliability of food inspection.

The introduction of the technology will help producers adjust to food industry moves to reduce to interim primary packaging by increasing the size of raw materials. The technology will enable food processors who handle any solid or semi solid foodstuff to detect contaminants.

In traditional food inspection to date, producers have had difficulty maintaining quality and accuracy in inspecting food items of larger sizes. The design of the Loma X4 800XL solves this problem as it has been specifically designed with all of the technological advantages of the x-ray equipment used to inspect smaller items, but with the ability and technology to process larger items.

Improving quality control with automated pack handling systems

July 13th 2010

In June, Inspections Systems secured the distributorship for Converging Solutions in Australia and New Zealand. Based in the UK, Converging Solutions are a leading supplier of converging and pack handling equipment in the packaging industry.

Traditionally, pack collation and stacking is done manually on accumulation tables, which increases potential for product damage. Converging Solutions Pack Integrator and Collator systems remove the need for human intervention and help dramatically improve quality control.

The systems are also highly versatile and can be adapted to virtually any production line with packaging handling requirements. To view the Converging Solutions systems click here contact Inspection Systems on 1800 354 302 to discuss your requirements.

Loma wins top food processing award

May 18th 2010

Loma Systems’ pioneering Variable Frequency technology across its range of IQ3 metal detectors has won the prestigious Technical Development award at this year’s Food Processing Awards in Leicestershire, UK.

The awards are an established and renowned food industry accolade that recognise and reward cutting edge product development, innovation and quality. Now in their 27th year, they are the most sought after awards in the Food Processing sector due to the nominations being open and judged globally by the public. This year over 3,500 people voted and Loma Systems fought off competition from some leading companies in the industry to win the top prize.

Loma Systems has set an unprecedented benchmark for the industry by developing a Variable Frequency function inside their metal detectors, allowing automatic detection of contaminants within a wide frequency range (31KHz-882KHz). The system can be configured to automatically select the correct frequency for numerous food products and packages during calibration, ensuring detection sensitivity remains at a peak regardless of which particular product is being inspected by the unit at any given time. This greatly reduces the possibility of operator error, which minimises product wastage or recall costs.

Loma also picked up a finalist award in the Innovation category for their CW3 Combination Checkweigher and Metal Detector.

Loma has been providing safe, reliable and tough inspection solutions to the food industry for over 40 years and has continued to provide market leading technology. This award reinforces Loma’s leading position in the food industry.

Simon Spencer, Managing Director of Loma Systems comments, “This is the single most influential development in metal detection in years and is true testament to our on-going research and development into making the best metal detectors in the world. The nomination is not just the reward for an outstanding technological development; it also serves as inspiration for further developments within the company.”

Simon concludes, “This award confirms that our continued efforts to provide state-of-the-art inspection solutions are being recognised by those who are most important to us”.

Blue Alert - Radix launches new contaminant detector

April 16th 2010

The consequences of a metal bolt or pieces of glass finding their way into your product are major. But what happens if a piece of blue plastic wrapper or cardboard is found by your customer or by the consumer in your product?  Such an incident is quite conceivable and could seriously undermine your business integrity.  The supply chain relies on contaminant-free produce and your customer relationships depend on it.

Recently Radix launched their new “Blue Alert” Contaminant Detector which sees foreign matter other detection techniques cannot sense.  It enhances your product integrity by looking all around at the product in free fall, to see anything which has not been trained as good product. Designed for the meat and poultry industry, this system will provide signficant benefits to manufacturers. For more detail on this new product call 1800 354 302 or send us an email.
